As it is Mother’s Day in a few days we thought it was a perfect opportunity to look at ways to spoil someone in your life who means a lot to you – but on a budget! The best things in life are not hugely extravagant but kind simple touches in our opinion.
You might not celebrate Mothers Day (Sunday, 30th March) – but we bet there is someone special in your life that you would love to show them how much they mean to you? There are lots of different ways to show your love for someone but sometimes these can be very expensive and in times of austerity we thought we would look at how to express your love on a budget!
Breakfast in bed – Who wouldn’t want to wake up to the smell of fresh coffee and toast – why not put a fresh flower from the garden on the tray too or a note that simply expresses how you feel about the person on the tray?
Massage those worries away – giving someone a foot rub or a back rub, in our opinion is one of the nicest things you can do for someone. You don’t need to spend a lot of money on fancy lotions and potions, a simple body lotion will suffice. If you can’t do it straight away a handmade voucher for a massage in the future will also be appreciated.
A good long soak – running a bath for your loved one is a really nice and thoughtful thing to do. Your bathroom may be filled with kids toys, or need new tiles but not to worry, a few candles lit around the bathroom with the main lights turned out, lots of bubbles and maybe some nice relaxing music on in the background. If you have flowers in your garden or blossom why not sprinkle a few petals on the floor and in the bath for the really luxurious feel? Placing a nice clean fluffy towel or dressing gown and slippers close to the bath and a refreshing drink for afterwards would officially make it the best bath in the world!
Surprise notes – little notes placed in lunch boxes, jacket pockets, or on a pillow telling the recipient what you love about them or a joke or recalling a funny story that you both laughed at, will make the receiver all warm and glowy inside even when real life is in full swing!
Ice-cream – Most people love ice-cream – why not make them a traditional dessert such as banana split – using of course Good Natured Bananas! This delicious treat is cheap and easy to prepare and will cause memories of childhood holidays to come flooding back!
