Angus Soft fruits are a family run business, established in 1994 by three soft fruit growers in Angus, Lochy Porter, his father Willie Porter and cousin James Gray.  Over the years their main aim was to represent their growers and provide fresh fruit twelve months of the year at an affordable price.

In 2004 Angus Soft Fruits recognised the consumer concerns over pesticide residues on fruit and the weight behind retailers to reduce the reliance on pesticides.  To conform to these demands would mean re-thinking the way plants were grown and the techniques used in growing.  This is exactly what we did and went right back to basics. Technical Director Dave Griffiths and his team developed the method we use today called biological pest control which has cut out the need for spraying pesticides all over whole crop fields.

In 2007 after small-scale trials in 2006, the production system was commercialised and open to Angus Soft Fruit growers in Scotland’s Angus.  Good Natured Fruit can now be found in leading supermarkets from May right up until October.  Out with this time requires some help from soft fruit growers in Holland, Spain, Chile, Mexico and Argentina; all with the same aim as our Scottish growers, to provide fresh, great tasting pesticide free fruit.

To support our growers, crop walkers and agronomists from the team at East Seaton, headed by Dr Anne Grant, offer advice and recommendations to ensure all pests and disease are kept to a minimum.   Also supporting the growers are Harvey Sansome and team who provide a full QA role to all growers in Scotland and Europe and in the pack houses.
